Nosodes – An Alternative To Conventional Dog Vaccines

Nosodes – Homeopathic Dog Vaccines

If you are concerned about giving your pet conventional vaccines, consider, nosodes, homeopathic remedies made from diseased tissues or descharges from an infected but unvaccinated and untreated animal. Nosodes can also be used therapeutically (to treat a disease) in addition to their prophylactic role (prevent a disease).

Nosodes work in a similar way to conventional vaccines. The substance contained in the nosode was taken from an animal suffering from a disease that manifested itself in a certain symptomatic picture, so the nosode is administered to an animal whose condition resembles that picture. For exampe, the nosode distemperinum may be used to treat distemper.

According Celeste Yarnell, Ph.D. author of Natural Dog Care, “Many nosodes have been proved and have an established drug picture, but most veterinary nosodes have only recently been developed, and the have been no provings. These nosodes are used solely for the prevention of a given disease or in its treatment. In some cases, the use of nosodes has brought out symptoms of a latent disease, but I don’t know of their ever having produced the disease itself.”

As with conventional vaccines, nosodes should be administered only to healthy animal when used preventatively. If you are interested in using nosodes instead of the conventional vaccine, find a holistic vet and ask them about your pets options.
